Face Waxing in North York & Toronto

Face waxing is one of the fastest ways to instantly brighten the skin, define facial features, and create a smoother makeup base — when it’s done properly.

At La Beauty Boutique, our face waxing services in North York and Toronto are performed with precision, high-quality waxes, and strict hygiene standards to protect even the most sensitive skin. We specialize in full facial waxing including eyebrows, upper lip, chin, cheeks, sideburns, jawline, and full face waxing, always customizing the service based on your skin type, hair texture, and sensitivity level.

Many clients worry about irritation, breakouts, or redness after face waxing — that usually happens when wax is too hot, removed incorrectly, or paired with poor aftercare. Our approach focuses on gentle techniques, proper skin prep, and calming post-wax care to minimize redness and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs or post-wax bumps.

Face waxing is ideal for clients who want longer-lasting smoothness compared to shaving or threading, and when performed regularly, hair grows back finer and softer over time. This service is perfect before events, vacations, or as part of a consistent grooming routine. If you’re exploring other waxing options, we also offer full body waxing for head-to-toe smoothness, and our Brazilian waxing services for those looking for longer-lasting, ultra-clean results.

For best results, we recommend avoiding active skincare ingredients (retinol, acids) before and after your appointment and following our professional aftercare guidance. Located in North York and serving Toronto clients, La Beauty Boutique is known for clean results, expert technique, and waxing done the right way.

Pre-Care: What Not To Do Before Face Waxing

To ensure safe results and avoid irritation, skin lifting, or sensitivity, please follow these guidelines before your face waxing appointment:

Do not use retinol, retinoids, tretinoin (Retin-A), adapalene (Differin), tazarotene, or prescription acne treatments for at least 5–7 days prior to waxing, as these products thin and sensitize the skin.

Avoid glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, mandelic acid, AHAs, BHAs, PHAs, or exfoliating toners for 3–5 days before waxing, as over-exfoliated skin is more prone to redness and irritation.

Refrain from chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments, IPL, RF treatments, or dermaplaning for a minimum of two weeks before face waxing, unless advised otherwise by your provider.

Do not use facial scrubs, cleansing brushes, exfoliating gloves, or rough washcloths for 48–72 hours prior to your appointment.

Avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, or self-tanner on the face for 3–5 days before waxing, as sun-sensitized skin can react more aggressively.

Do not pick, squeeze, or wax over active acne, scabs, or healing skin, as this increases the risk of irritation and delayed healing.

On the day of your appointment, avoid applying heavy oils, thick creams, or occlusive products to the area being waxed, as they may interfere with proper wax adhesion.

Face waxing should be avoided if you have had Botox, fillers, or cosmetic injectables in the area within the past 7–10 days, unless cleared by your provider.

If your skin feels irritated, compromised, sunburned, or overly sensitive, we recommend rescheduling your appointment to ensure safe and optimal results.

Also, keep in mind that threading is another option if you can’t have your face waxed.

After-Care: What Not To Do After Face Waxing

To protect the skin and prevent irritation, breakouts, or sensitivity after face waxing, please avoid the following:

Do not touch, rub, scratch, or pick at the waxed area, as freshly waxed skin is more vulnerable to bacteria and irritation.

Avoid hot showers, steam rooms, saunas, hot yoga, intense workouts, or excessive sweating for 24–48 hours after waxing, as heat can increase redness and sensitivity.

Do not expose the waxed area to direct sun, tanning beds, or self-tanner for 48 hours, as freshly waxed skin is more prone to pigmentation and sun damage.

Avoid retinol, retinoids, vitamin A derivatives, exfoliating acids (AHAs, BHAs, PHAs), benzoyl peroxide, and acne treatments for at least 5–7 days after waxing.

Do not exfoliate, scrub, or use cleansing brushes, exfoliating gloves, or rough cloths on the area for 48–72 hours following waxing.

Avoid applying makeup to the waxed area for 12–24 hours, especially heavy or occlusive products, to reduce the risk of clogged pores and breakouts.

Do not book chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments, IPL, RF treatments, or dermaplaning on waxed areas for at least 7–14 days, unless advised otherwise by your provider.

Avoid products containing alcohol, fragrance, menthol, eucalyptus, or strong actives, as they may cause stinging or irritation on freshly waxed skin.

Post-Care: What To Do After Face Waxing

To help the skin calm, heal properly, and maintain smooth results after face waxing, please follow these postcare guidelines:

Cleanse the waxed area with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. Avoid scrubbing or using cleansing tools.

Apply a gentle, calming product such as aloe vera, chamomile, calendula, or a post-wax soothing lotion to reduce redness and discomfort (again, depending on your skin, sensitivity and allergies, be careful the products you are using )

Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to support the skin barrier and prevent dryness or tightness.

Keep the area cool and avoid heat, steam, sweating, or friction for 24–48 hours to minimize irritation.

Apply a mineral sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) once the skin has settled, especially if you’ll be outdoors, to prevent pigmentation.

If possible, avoid makeup on the waxed area for 12–24 hours to reduce the risk of clogged pores or breakouts.

Wait 5–7 days before reintroducing retinol, acids, or acne treatments, and always monitor how your skin reacts.

If you experience prolonged redness, discomfort, or irritation beyond 48 hours, please contact your provider before applying any active products or any skin care products.
